the tyranny of psychological memory
The sun touched the tops of the dry winter grasses and became a display of rays and luminous mist. Seeing, the body’s simple activity of perception … for the body is not a ‘thing’ that perceives but a total single holistic perceiving …. seeing, is freedom and joy. Appearance is the inheritance of the Buddhas; but it must be a perceiving combined with great austerity. The austerity of a mind freed from conditioning – perceiving freed from the tyranny of psychological memory. In this way, perceiving does not become experience, nor does it reinforce the erroneous notion of an experiencer.
