teachings of a modern spiritual adept

Bite size teachings across 30 years.

For 30 years t.k. has offered radical spiritual teachings on the divine nature of non-dual contemplation and realization. Enlightened mind here and now, born from this culture, addressing the issues of this time and place t.k. offers transmission through countless forms - words being one of them. Here are some short pieces from his teachings over the last 30 years.

The path exists as a series of method.

There is tremendous suffering. There is tremendous beauty. There is tremendous opportunity. Mind subtle, expansive, deep like the ocean, vast like the sky .... its unborn infinity of potential seeks expression in the ceaseless magical manifestation of appearance. Its profound well of silence is, in every moment, undoing all identity and identification. Human beings with their complex and subtle consciousness have the possibility of realizing the fullness of this process.

For this to happen one must make the mind subtle, delicate, sensitive. This can not be done by exchanging one dependency for another, one set of unexamined consolations, beliefs, authorities for another. All forms of childish dependency, cults of authority, faddishness, dharma politics, arguing over the status of this or that “guru” numbs the mind and heart. All of this is frivolous gaming.

The path exists as a series of methods -- a living, organic process of de-conditioning that moves through mind, body and feeling making them exquisitely wondrous mechanism for perceiving what “is.” In mind it is wisdom yoga, in feeling it is the cultivation of rasa, the flavor of feelings knowingness - in body it is resonance of outer, inner and secret in the union of bliss and emptiness. The path is not a new set of beliefs or consolations - it is a practical methodology for exploring the essence and nature of perception and the meaning of Being and non-being.

The relationship with a spiritual teacher, when set free of all frivolousness and gaming, is a beautiful, complex, process of transmission and teaching ... it is alive. The inner longing and the outer methods, and teacher, combine to move you beyond inner and outer. It is not from outer to inner but from inner and outer to non-dual. This is such a sweet mystery. May all come to it with a maturity and depth of earnestness that cuts through both the games of so called spiritual life and the structure of ego’s confusions, like a hot knife through butter.
